What is the CSR record for?
The CSR record is one of the special records that is needed when activating a Secure Socket Layer (SSL) connection for your website. The CSR record is an unsigned certificate for submission to a Certification Authority, which signs it with the Private Key of their CA Certificate. Once the CSR is signed, it becomes a real certificate.

How do I generate a CSR record prior to activating an SSL for my domain name?
In order to generate a new CSR record, you must fill in the following details:

Organization Name: Type in the exact legal name of your organization. Do not abbreviate the name of your organization.

Organization Unit: Specify the exact department of your organization (optional).

Country: Select your country from the list.

State: The state or province where your organization is legally located. It should not be abbreviated.

Domain Name: The fully qualified domain name for your web server, e.g. www.my-best-domain.com. This must be an exact match.

E-mail: Type in your personal e-mail address.

Note that any of the following characters can not be used in the details: < > ~ ! @ # $ % ^ * / ( ) ?.,&

When ready click on the Generate Request button. Then you will be able to view or download the CSR and the Private Key.

How do I view a certificate request (CSR) or its corresponding Private Key?
In order to view a CSR record or its Private Key, click on the icon beside it. A new window will pop up, containing the Certificate Request. Click on the Copy to clipboard button so you can easily paste the CSR later into a text file, an e-mail message or other document, thus sending it for a signature to a Certificate Authority.

How do I download a certificate request (CSR) or its corresponding Private Key?
If you would like to download the certificate request and/or its private key, simply click on the icon. Your browser will ask you to save the CSR.txt or the PrivateKey.txt file on your computer.

How do I delete a certificate request?
If you do not need an already generated certificate with any of the available details, you can easily delete it by using the icon.
